If you’re heading to Smithfield for cinema this month, you’ve likely been taking in some of the Christmas classics of this year’s Naughty or Nice season at the Light House. There’s one final programme for the cinema to fit in before 2022 is out however, with a selection of some of their favourite films of the year, the critical darlings and crowdpleasers alike. The Best of 2022 at the Light House Cinema will offer eleven of the best between December 27th and 31st to see out the year.

The Best of 2022 season includes picks from across the cinematic spectrum. Mainstream blockbusters are on the bill including Top Gun: Maverick, and The Batman. Upcoming awards contenders Elvis, Everything, Everywhere, All At Once and An Cailín Ciúin are on the bill, as well as international hits Decision To Leave, The Worst Person in the World and All Quiet on the Western Front. Joining An Cailín Ciúin among the best of the Irish is Sinead O’Connor doc Nothing Compares and the sensational horror You Are Not My Mother.

And also Banshees is there as well I guess.

It should be a great 2024 at the Light House, with Spielberg’s latest The Fabelmans on the way in January and new films from Kelly Reichardt, Wes Anderson and more coming down the line in the year to come. The cinema have brought back their Loyalty Scheme, something definitely to keep an eye on if you’re looking for a Christmas gift for your nearest and dearest in the fair city of film. The scheme allows card carrying Light House fans to start earning points on all purchases and access special offers and perks.
