Unwelcome trailer promises a creature feature that will grab you

The trailer for the latest film by Jon Wright, director of the Irish cult class Grabbers has arrived and it continues that film’s spirit of strange local horrors. Reuniting the creative team behind that creature feature, Unwelcome hints at something strange going on just beyond the woods of a home of a young British couple, a home in which you could say they are…un…wanted.

Unwelcome stars Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp) and Douglas Booth (The Dirt) as a couple who escape their urban nightmare to the tranquillity of rural Ireland only to discover malevolent, murderous goblins lurking in the gnarled, ancient wood at the foot of their new garden. Additional cast include good aul’ Colm Meaney, Jamie-Lee O’Donnell, Chris Walley and Kristian Nairn. Directed by Jon Wright, the film is based on an original screenplay by Mark Stay.

The film reunites the creature team behind Grabbers the silly, strange, delightful Irish B-movie. Unwelcome will include prosthetics by Shaune Harrison who has worked on some of the world’s highest grossing blockbusters including the Harry Potter films, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace and Avengers: Age of Ultron along with creature designs by Paul Catling (Maleficent, Thor, Fantastic Beasts) and longtime Wright collaborator VFX supervisor Paddy Eason (28 Weeks Later, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Grabbers).

The trailer sees the young couple trying to start a quiet new life, but their failure to abide by local tradition stirs things up and its not long before something starts lurking at the bottom of their garden. Check out the Unwanted trailer now and get ready for its release in 2022.
