The IFI Family Festival is back for some craic this August


The Irish Film Institute will be bringing their annual 3 day festival of fun films and activities for kids aged 4 – 12 back to their cinema this month, as the IFI Family Festival gets set to take place from August 27 – 29th. Next week will see family friendly films from around the world returning to the Institute’s screens once again.

The IFI Family Festival 2021 will provide socially-distant seating and child-friendly precautions for young viewers and their families, ensuring that everyone feels safe and welcome on their return to the cinema. As well as a mix of feature and short animated films, a number of activities will be available in a mix of virtual and live delivery, with plenty for the budding filmmakers in your home to sink their teeth into.

 

The good folks at the Dublin Smartphone Film Festival will be pairing with the Family Festival as it shows off some homemade shorts from young filmmakers, all about what kids and their families can do to help the environment. Continuing the environmentally friendly theme, Junk Kouture are providing tips on making masterpieces and clothes out of recycled materials, and RTE Home School Hub’s Emer and Ray will be hosting a workshop to help kids discover their inner resilience in the ‘Resilient Me’ session.

 

Are you resilient? This past year we have all had to be learn how to deal with new situations and develop resilience.  Join RTÉ School Hub’s Emer to learn some skills that will help you feel strong and stand up when new situations or challenges get you down.

Please note this workshop is for children only – limited spaces available. Maximum 2 children for workshop per family ticket purchase. Children must be accompanied for the film screening on Saturday 28th August of Mum is Pouring Rain.

Parents/ guardians can fill in the IFI’s workshop consent form here, and bring along on the day to the workshop check-in.

The full festival lineup is available now here and tickets to screenings cost €6.50, with a family pass available for the festival for €19.99.
