Tis the season to be jolly and joyous (restrictions permitting) and Christmas is barreling ever more hazardously down the line towards us all, threatening to flatten schedules and bank balances alike, like an out of control snowball. It’s a good time to really on comforts and joys and as is traditional, the Light House (and sister cinema Pálás in Galway) will be providing a season of Christmas classics. The Naughty or Nice programme is here again in December 2021, with the usual hits and some new films for their rotation set to show from December 4th.

Attaboy, Light House.

The Smithfield cinema have today announced the programme for their annual Naughty or Nice season, a selection of beloved Christmas classics and carefully curated deep-cuts. Every year the selection tends to bring out the naughty and nice in Dublin’s film fans as they cross in-laws and distant relatives off their gift lists in order to fit in a few more tickets to treat themselves with and Christmas 2019 is set to be no different. The usual lineup are all there with a few new, intriguing choices thrown in, it’s going to be a busy few weeks at the Light House from November 29th to December 31st.

Normally we at Film In Dublin wouldn’t be on board with breaking out the fairy lights and tinsel for Christmas while the Halloween pumpkins haven’t even rotted yet. But for the Light House Cinema’s Naughty or Nice season, we’re always willing to make an exception. An annual season of seasonal classics featuring all your comforting Christmas favourites, this festive programming is a Christmas tradition for cinema-goers in the fair city of film, a celebration for Light House regulars to mark the end of another great year of movies. This afternoon, the Light House announced the schedule for Naughty or Nice 2018 from Dec 1st to 23rd, and they’ve been good to us as ever.

The cinema equivalent of a Coca Cola truck wheeling into town for Dublin film fans, the Light House Cinema’s announcement of their ‘Naughty or Nice’ season heralds the arrival of the Christmas season, just as the Halloween decorations start coming down. The month of December in the Smithfield cinema is dedicated to Christmas classics, with all your favourite Christmas movies available on the big screen. We don’t know about you, but it’s hard not to look at the amazing artwork above by Chris Judge and not feel the excitement and the nostalgia start to flow. The full season has been announced and tickets are already on sale, so the time to start writing to Santa for two tickets to Die Hard is now.
