Usually the Japanese Film Festival is a spring affair, offering new and classic cinema from one of the great homes of international film every April. Things haven’t been ‘usual’ for a while of course and this year’s JFF was delayed, but as cinemas start to reopen more, the 2021 Japanese Film Festival is ready to go ahead, a cultural cinematic celebration taking place across Ireland. This October 14- 21st, you can see great Japanese films on the big screen, not just in the fair city of film but in Cork, Galway, Limerick and Waterford.

For monster movie fans on these shores, the anticipation for Shin Godzilla has been building and building for some time. The 31st installment in the Godzilla franchise and the 29th put out by Japanese studio Toho, Shin Godzilla (or Godzilla Resurgence) is a reboot to the series that has received plenty of praise. And now, finally, the film will be showing here, with a select number or screenings taking place in Dublin this August.
