A Dustin Hoffman Retrospective Comes To The IFI This June

With a body of work in American cinema spanning over fifty years, a pair of Oscars, numerous nominations and widespread praise the world over, few actors have had a career as successful as Dustin Hoffman and this summer, the IFI offers the chance to see some of his greatest roles on the big screen once again.

One of the leading pioneers of method acting during the New Hollywood era of the 1970s, Hoffman continues to work with with acclaimed filmmakers even as he approaches the age of 80, most recently with Noah Baumbach in The Meyerowitz Stories, a Palme d’Or contender at the Cannes Film Festival just gone. With the film Hoffman first broke out in, Mike Nichols’ The Graduate, receiving a re-release in cinemas to mark the 50th anniversary of its release, it’s a good time to look back at the career of one of America’s greatest living actors. With that in mind, the Irish Film Institute are hosting a Dustin Hoffman retrospective this June.
From Midnight Cowboy to Tootsie to Rain Man, the IFI will be showing some of Hoffman’s most challenging roles from June 10-25. See the full list of films the cinema is offering below.
