For this year’s Bike Week, on Friday 16th May, Dublin City Council and the Office of the Night-Time Economy will present a special outdoor screening of The Song Cycle, right in the middle of the fair city of film, taking place at 9pm at Meeting House Square, Temple Bar.
Bike Week is a week dedicated to celebrating and promoting cycling. This year Bike Week takes place from 10th – 18th May 2025.
The Song Cycle is a documentary by musician and filmmaker Nick Kelly, which sees him embark on a cycling journey from Ireland to the Glastonbury Festival back in 2022, carrying his musical gear along the way. Alongside his musical partner Seán Millar and cameraman Céin O’Brien, Nick captures the highs and lows of their adventure.
Last year, the doc won Best Independent Film at the Galway Film Fleadh and Audience Choice at the IFI Documentary Festival.
There will be a panel discussion about how Dublin can be a more bike-friednly, sustainable city, as well as a ‘Musical Bike Bop’ which will arrive at Meeting House Square at 9:30pm. Tickets for this event are €10, and €5 for concessions, available now from Eventbrite.
