A David Lynch Tribute at the Light House

The death of David Lynch earlier this January meant the departure from this world of one of the most unique, intriguing, empathetic and exceptional cinematic minds in history. From the underground oddness of Eraserhead, to changing television forever alongside Mark Frost and co with Twin Peaks, to the ethereal beauty of Mulholland Drive, and even his unsettling, eery PS2 adverts, Lynch’s legacy will last eternal. Over the coming months, the Light House Cinema will remember David Lynch with a retrospective season celebrating the life and work of a true genius.

From February 8th to the end of March, the Smithfield cinema will be screening 10 Lynchian features, a selection of his short films, and the Alexandre O. Philippe doc Lynch/Oz, with Pálás also showing a selection out West before they close their own doors. The Light House are strongly advising booking early, as film fans are likely to pack out the screens to say goodbye to the eclectic auteur.

Lynch, who passed away on January 15th 2025 aged 78 after complications of emphysema after being evacuated from his home during this year’s LA wildfires, was one of the great American visionaries. Searching for the surreal and sinister that lurks in Rockwell Americana and Hollywood glamour, Lynch’s work is dreamlike, sifting transcendentally between charmingly queer and bloodcurdling terrifying.

Tickets are available now for Remembering David Lynch now here, and you can check out the full list of films screening both in Dublin and Galway below.
