Creative community GALPAL Collective will be presenting an upcoming event to provide info on entry level opportunities in creative fields. Aspiring filmmakers and other creatives can attend this free knowledge sharing event in November, to engage with industry experts, gain essential info, and network with like-minded individuals.
“Coffee Conversation,” is set to take place on Saturday, November 4th, 2023. This engaging event will be held at the Rua Red South Dublin Arts Centre in Tallaght, commencing at 10:30am and concluding at 1:00pm. Tickets are free with registration required.
This event will host representatives from various organisations to answer attendee questions about film, journalism, tv and more. Coffee Conversations will provide an informal space to share their invaluable insights, experiences, and advice on navigating their respective fields.
Finance expert Carmel Seery will be in attendance for a segment focused on understanding and navigating finances as a freelance creative. Since 2019, Seery has run a consulting business that works with entrepreneurs and micro business owners. Seery will share her insights with attendees on maintaining clear cashflow and methods to help micro businesses thrive.
One of the highlights of the event is the unveiling of the curated handbook, “Get Your Foot In The Door,” created by The GALPAL Collective. This handbook serves as a comprehensive guide, offering tips and strategies for building an impressive portfolio, mastering the art of networking, and accessing crucial resources that aspiring creatives within the media sphere can benefit from.
The GALPAL Collective continue to provide a range of opportunities for marginalised individuals, with initiatives and events such as ‘Writers Club’, ‘Directed by Her’ and most recently their sold out Black History Month event with GORM, ‘AJOYO!’. “Coffee Conversations” is another leap forward in the collective’s ongoing mission to create a level playing field in the creative industry. By providing opportunities for marginalised individuals, the collective aims to ensure that everyone has an equal chance to thrive and excel in the world of creativity.
