KinoD celebrate anniversary edition this August

KinoD are hosting an international filmmaking event across Dublin on August 11-20. With years of experience in bringing people together in a festival environment to make film, documentary, music, and art, they’ll be celebrating an anniversary edition at the end of the summer for their International Filmmaking Kabaret.

KinoD expect up to 150 participants from across Europe – including professional musicians, actors and filmmakers. Their films will screen in the IFI Cinema and the Workman’s Club over the 10 days, as well as a documentary to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of KinoD. Their events are for filmmakers across the range, from absolute beginners to seasoned experts. This event is open to anyone willing to get involved in the filmmaking process, KinoD will facilitate the completion of all movies but participants are encouraged to bring their own equipment.

Kino is a non-profit International filmmaking movement, founded in Montreal in 2000, with events now hosted by volunteers in major cities across Europe, North & Central America, Australia and South-East Asia.

Kino Kabarets are non-competitive filmmaking challenges that take place over either a weekend session or 10 days, focusing on collaboration and creativity. KinoD was founded in 2013 and has hosted regular events for Irish and international filmmakers for the past decade. In August 2022, KinoD hosted an International Kabaret in which 82 filmmakers from 12 countries made 60 short films. This includes 3 sessions: 2 standard weekend sessions, with screenings in the IFI in Temple Bar, as well as a ‘Silent Session’, where all films will be shot without sound and accompanied by a live performance alongside the screening in the Workman’s Nightclub. This may involve music, dance, stand-up, spoken word poetry, and audience participation.

KinoD have partnered with The Brazilian Embassy, The Irish Film Institute and SEMP Academy to host a 10 Day International Kabaret on August 11-20th in SEDA College, Capel Street. This will mark KinoD’s 10 year anniversary so we are going big, with workshops hosted by professional Stunt Coordinators, Directors and Intimacy Coordinators, livestreams and red carpets at all screenings – as well as a short documentary on the history of KinoD which will premiere August 20th.

Tickets cost €35 euro per session or €90 for all 10 days and are available now HERE.
