A Love/Hate retrospective and more at the FNI Members Forum

Join Film Network Ireland this Friday 10th September to chat with TV’s Love/Hate actors, a round table discussions with Virgin Media Discoveries, panel discussions with Irish Equity and The Screen Composers Guild of Ireland plus live networking for you industry heads, all the FNI Members Forum.

 

 

This live online event will kick off at 7pm this Friday, with a large and impressive lineup of industry pros and interesting, engaging conversations on offer. The night will be kicking off with a special retrospective look at the hit television programme Love/Hate with some of its leading performers, to mark 10 years since the show first aired on RTÉ.

 

Rising stars on the local scene will then be the focus as DIFF Director Grainne Humphreys hosts a roundtable discussion of winners of the festivals’ Virgin Media Discovery Award, including actress Hazel Doupe (who you’ll be seeing more of soon in You Are Not My Mother), writer/director of Deadly Cuts Rachel Carey, Costume Designer Saileog O’Halloran and Cinematographer Burschi Wojnar.

MAIN STAGE (Looking back at Love/Hate) 7pm. 

Hosted by Paul Webster who will be joined by cast members Peter Coonan (Fran) Mary Murray (Janet) Lynn Rafferty (Janine) and Jimmy Smallhoarne (Git) about the cultural impact of Love/Hate.

 

8:15pm: Round tables: Virgin Media Discovers.

VMDIFF Festival Director, Grainne Humphreys will host a round table discussion with 2021 Discovery Award winners – a night of entertaining discussion, practical advice, information and future talent discovery.

8:50pm: Irish Equity Panel (Representation and the importance of for Performers)

Gerry O’Brien – President and Guests.

Gerry O’Brien’s career now spans 5 decades having made his professional debut at the Gate theatre in 1970. He has worked on most of the stages in Ireland over the years appearing in productions of Shakespeare, Moliere, Yeats, O’Casey as well as Hugh Leonard, Neil Simon and Tom Murphy. He has appeared in numerous TV plays and series for RTE and BBC and for US television. He is a much sought after voice actor working in the fields of voice over, audiobook and documentary narration and radio drama. Gerry has been a member of Equity all his career serving as Equity rep in his early career and on the Executive. His current role is President.

 

9:20pm: The Screen Composers Guild Of Ireland (Scoring Ireland) 

FNI will be joined for this session by some of the most talented Irish Composers today for a chat about Scoring the Island of Island.

10:00pm: Networking

One to one networking will allow FNI members and more industry pros the opportunity to get to know each other and chat in a space to debate the subjects and issues in Film and Tv that directly affects them all.

 

Hosted on the Hopin platform, the forum is free for FNI members, with €5 tickets available for non-members to cover costs also.

 

Film Network Ireland (FNI) is a film organisation ‘focusing on grass roots to big shoots.’ For over 10 years the FNI has been facilitating members of the film community in Ireland with workshops, masterclasses, networking events and more.
