Irish film Here Are The Young Men set for 2021 release in Ireland, UK and America

Next year will see the release of a highly anticipated drama featuring rising acting talents and based on the work of Irish writer Rob Doyle.

The Irish coming-of-age drama Here Are The Young Men is set for a theatrical release in Ireland, UK and North America next year.  Well Go USA Entertainment and Arclight Films announced their North American distribution deal today, with Signature Entertainment securing the distribution rights for the UK and Ireland.  Wildcard Distribution will manage the theatrical release of the film in Ireland which is scheduled for early 2021.

Here Are The Young Men is based on the acclaimed novel of the same name by Rob Doyle.  The film is directed by Eoin Macken (Cold), co-written by Doyle and Macken and features a star ensemble cast that includes DeanCharles Chapman (Game of Thrones1917), Finn Cole (Peaky Blinders), Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Gambit, SplitThe Witch), Ferdia Walsh-Peelo (Sing StreetVikings), and Travis Fimmel (Raised by WolvesVikingsWarcraft).

Set in 2003, the film catalogs the last summer of three Dublin teens —aimless Matthew (Chapman), his charismatic yet deranged friend Kearney (Cole) and their precocious friend Rez (Walsh-Peelo)—as they embark on an epic binge to celebrate a future without limits. But when they witness a catastrophic accident, the incident sends them spiraling.

Filmed on location in Dublin, Here Are The Young Men was produced by Hail Mary Pictures’ Richard Bolger (Cardboard Gangsters), Union Entertainment Group’s Noah C Haeussner (Arctic) and Edwina Casey (co-producing) with the support of Screen Ireland, Funny Leopard, Bending Light, Glanzrock Productions and EGG Studios.   Foton Pictures, Paul W.S. Anderson, Andrew Davies Gans, Conor Barry, Michael Raimondi, Emerson Machtus, Carlos Cus-có, Dearbhla Regan and Gary Shortall all served as Executive Producers.

The film screened at the Galway Film Fleadh earlier this year, where it won the Bingham Ray New Talent Award for co-producer Edwina Casey.

Here Are The Young Men is an unflinching depiction of the realities of tragedy, temptation and the depths of human nature,” said Doris Pfardrescher, President and CEO at Well Go USA. “It shines a light on the struggles associated with coming of age, forming an identity and defining masculinity in the face of trauma.”
