The Irish Film Institute have launched their own online streaming platform, IFI@Home.
The new online programme IFI@Home, will be exclusive to Irish audiences and features thematically selected collections handpicked by IFI programmers, stretching from far flung corners of the world, to rarely seen Irish gems.
Selections from the IFI’s own film festival programmes, their beloved Documentary Festival, French Film Festival and more will also be available. Titles will be added on an ongoing basis, allowing viewers from all over Ireland to enjoy the best of the IFI from their own living rooms. The service will act as the sister site of the IFI’s other platform the IFI Player which lets audiences around the world to enjoy free access to film materials preserved in the Irish Film Archive.
How it works
Create an Account
To watch films, you need to first create an account at IFI@Home and sign in.
Browse or Search
The IFI have their selection thematically programmed in collections. You can browse collections on the Collections page. To find a particular film, take a look for it in Browse A-Z or Search.
Add Films to My Library
While browsing, you can add films to watch later by clicking the Add to My List option.
Rent a film
Then just click Rent, you will be guided to enter your payment details.
Watch
To watch the film straight away, you then click Play Now. The film will start. To watch later, close the dialogue box.
You’ll also receive an email confirmation receipt whenever you make a purchase. When you are ready to watch your film, Sign In, go to My Library and click Play Now. Viewers have a 3 day window in to watch rented films will be available to watch. After clicking play, you will have 48 hours to finish watching. Films can be watched several times over this period.
Reel Art Collection
The platform has launched with the Reel Art Collection, a selection of documentaries funded by the Arts Council of Ireland. The Reel Art Award provides film artists with the opportunity to make highly creative, imaginative and experimental documentaries on an artistic theme for cinema exhibition, and 20 such docs funded by the Council are available now from the new streaming service.
