Dogs at DIFF – This year’s Dublin International Film Festival is hosting a dog-friendly film screening

Excitement is beginning to build for this year’s edition of the Dublin International Film Festival. With announcements gradually trickling out from VMDIFF and a full programme announcement taking place next week, the biggest film festival in the Dublin calendar will be upon us again soon and this year’s edition is going to the dogs, in the best way possible. The festival have announced that a dog-friendly screening will be taking place this year, a great opportunity to finally bring a bit of culture into the lives of Dublin’s philistine canines!

This year’s edition of VMDIFF will run from 26th February – 8th March across the county and with dog-friendly screenings becoming increasingly popular over the last few years and having made their way to Dublin, the festival will be getting in on the act at the tail end of this year’s programme (see what we did there?). On Saturday 7th March, the Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival 2020 will present their dog-friendly Screening of Marona’s Fantastic Tale.

Directed by Anca Damian, this intriguing Romanian animation is told through the eyes of a lost puppy and tells the story of a dog who, following an accident, reflects on her owners, adventures, and experiences. Marona’s story reveals a sense of affection and empathy that will appeal to animal lovers and animation fans everywhere. That sounds to us like a recipe for floods of tears in the Odeon Point Village, which makes it all the more important to include the presence of some beloved pups for comfort and support.

Marona’s Fantastic Tale takes place as part of DIFF’s Fantastic Flix strand. A strong feature of the festival every year, Fantastic Flix  families and young people between 4–17 years old. Other highlights of this year’s Fantastic Flix confirmed so far include a showing of Pixar’s latest film Onward, Dreamworks’ Trolls World Tour and a collection of classic Charlie Chaplin short films showing at the Light House.

Tickets are available now for Marona’s Fantastic Tale. Interested fams and dog fans can book one adult or family ticket online and then add a special dog ticket to their basket to ensure the whole family can sit in. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
