Pianist Máire Carroll will be performing at the Light House Cinema in June for a special one night only event that promises to bring alive a number of film score favourites.
An extensive performer throughout Europe, Asia, North America and Canada, Carroll is the winner of various awards in her field including the 2018 RDS Collins Memorial Prize, 2015 Tilestyle Artist Bursary and the 2012 RDS Music Bursary. Máire has performed with orchestras including the RTE NSO, NSO of the Ukraine and the Orchestra of St. Cecilia.
Máire Carroll began her studies at the age of four at the Royal Irish Academy of Music with Gillian Smith later studying with musicians such as John O’Conor and Ray Keary and has honed her skills at home and abroad ever since.
On Saturday June 29th Máire will be performing some of her favourite music that written for the screen, performed in movies and heard on film soundtracks, including musical pieces by Oscar winner composers Philip Glass, Michael Giacchino and Ennio Morricone, film score favourites including Bohemian Rhapsody and Groundhog Day (which features Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini) and more.
This performance will include s number of special guest performers and will also see Carroll premiere her latest composition, specially composed for the evening. The performance will start at 8 p.m. and will include a 15 minute interval. Tickets for this event are available from the Smithfield cinema now and cost €24 (€22 concessions).
