Kenneth Branagh to visit IFI for All Is True Q&A

Prestige comes to Dublin this February as one of the most acclaimed directors of screen and stage in recent times visits the Irish Film Institute for a Q&A session to follow his new film. Kenneth Branagh will be in attendance at the Institute to discuss his latest directing/acting performance as William Shakespeare in the Ben Elton-scripted All Is True.

Over the course of his 40+ year long career, Belfast-born Branagh has been nominated for five Academy Awards and five Golden Globe Awards, and has won three BAFTAs, and an Emmy Award, frequently bringing the work of Shakespeare to the big screen, among his many other directorial and acting credits.

The director will visit the IFI on Friday, February 8th to take part in a Q&A following the 6.10pm screening of his latest film, Shakespeare story All Is True.

All Is True explores the human story behind a dark and little known period in the life of William Shakespeare (Kenneth Branagh). The year is 1613 and Shakespeare is the greatest writer of the age. When his beloved Globe Theatre is burned to the ground, he decides to return to his home town of Stratford-upon-Avon. There, he faces his neglected family. Still haunted by the death of his only son, Hamnet, he struggles to mend broken relationships with his wife, Anne (Judi Dench) and daughters. In so doing he is forced to examine his own failings as an absent husband and father. In the search for peace, he must also finally confront the dark heart of his family’s secrets and lies. Ian McKellen also stars as the Earl of Southampton, the “Fair Youth” of Shakespeare’s sonnets, fairly older.

Tickets for this Q&A event cost €14 and are available now online and from the IFI box office at 01 679 3477.
