As anyone who has seen The Shining will tell you, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. We’re pretty sure the moral of that particular story was to party hard and enjoy the summer outdoors after being cooped up all winter. This July, BrewDog are offering the opportunity to do just that, promising craft beer, classic movies and live music, at their Cinematic Circus.
This event, taking place on Saturday the 7th of July is an combination of music festival, outdoor film screening and craft beer brouhaha that aims to be one of the first in a series of outdoor events hosted by the brewery. Taking place at the Weston Airport Runway, the evening will build up to a showing of The Shining on a large outdoor screen. They’ll be offering 120 taps of craft beer from BrewDog, YellowBelly, Kildare Brewing Company, Wicklow Wolf and Stone Barrel, as well as spirits and cocktails from Lone Wolf. There will also be plenty of street food on offer on the day, as well as live performances by the band Fallen Lights, the Mullingar-based Indie pop band and a performance by the Circus of Horrors.
Certainly the tiny airport is an unusual locations for a film screening, but the Cinematic Circus will be aiming to make transport easy. There will be free parking on site for those who are driving with all drivers get a free non-alcoholic beer. They’ll also be putting on complimentary busses between the event site, doing a loop between Leixlip and Celbridge every 15 minutes from 4pm to 10pm Between 10pm – 01:30am. They also promise to have buses taking event attendees back to Leixlip and Celbridge from the event site. For those travelling by bus, the 67 bus stops directly outside the front gate on Celbridge Road, a short walk away.
Tickets for this event cost €16 and once inside a token system will be in operation for food and drink. More information and tickets are available now from BrewDog here. It’s a unique offering as far as outdoor screenings go, if it goes well, we’re sure we’ll be inviting the Cinematic Circus to come play with us, for ever and ever. In that case, we may end up gushing about it…
…so to speak.
