Creed II Trailer shows the loyalty (and royalty) in Creed’s DNA

The first trailer has arrived for Creed II, the sequel the acclaimed Rocky spinoff of 2015 that brought the director-actor team of Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan to mainstream audiences. Creed was one of the first reviews available on Film In Dublin, an “exhilarating” experience that left us hoping for Adonis Creed versus cyborg Ivan Drago, and though that won’t be happening we won’t be too far off with this sequel. Coogler isn’t in the directors chair this time, but Jordan is back for another installment in the odyssey of Adonis, and this November, there’s more to lose than a title for the son of Apollo.

Life has become a balancing act for Adonis Creed. Between personal obligations and training for his next big fight, he is up against the challenge of his life. Facing an opponent with ties to his family’s past only intensifies his impending battle in the ring. Rocky Balboa is there by his side through it all and, together, Rocky and Adonis will confront their shared legacy, question what’s worth fighting for, and discover that nothing’s more important than family. Creed II is about going back to basics to rediscover what made you a champion in the first place, and remembering that, no matter where you go, you can’t escape your history.

Scored to Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Loyalty’, it’s a rousing, eye-catching trailer that shows a lot of promise for the film to come. Check out the official trailer for Creed II below.

Steven Caple Jr. takes over as director for this film, Coogler being otherwise occupied with Black Panther while the film was in development. The script comes from Stallone, who was on board to direct at one point, but has said of Caple Jr. “I believe it’s important for the director to also be a part of this generation like I was in mine, to make the story as relatable as possible. We are extremely lucky to have the talented young filmmaker Steven Caple Jr. step up and accept the role of director. I am confident that he and Michael B. Jordan will hit it out of the park!” Creed II will be released in Irish cinemas this November 30th.
