Multi award winning actress and Ireland’s own Saoirse Ronan will be presenting her most recent acclaimed film at a special screening in Cineworld this May, in association with the Cinemagic Film Festival. A patron of Cinemagic, Lady Bird herself will be taking part in a Q&A session before showing the film. Just don’t ask what if this is the best version of herself.
Greta Gerwig’s 2002 coming-of-age tale centres on Sacremento native Christine McPherson, an eccentric teenager who prefers to go by the name ‘Lady Bird’. Over the course of her last year of high school, Lady Bird deals with the first love and clashes with her mother, a fantastic performance by Laurie Metcalf, over Lady Bird’s future and college plans. A semi-autobiographical story the beautifully realised with an empathetic spirit and charming wit. Ronan and Metcalf’s performances, great supporting turns by rising stars Timothée Chalamet and Lucas Hedges and Gerwig’s writing and direction make for a personal, authentic and involving story and future coming-of-age classic, picking up 5 nominations at this year’s Academy Awards and a win for Ronan for Best Actress at the 2018 IFTAs.
The film will be screening at Cineworld on Sunday, 20th May at 3.3opm and tickets are available from Cineworld here.
