With the lights up in the city and holiday films on our cinema screens, Christmas season has well and truly arrived this year to the fair city of film, and in December an all-time family favourite will be playing at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre with live music to accompany some timeless animation.
The Snowman returns to the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre mid December this year, with tickets available now for multiple showings on December 16th & 17th. Since 1982 Raymond Briggs’s story, adapted to the screen by Dianne Jackson, has established itself as part of Christmas tradition for viewers young and old. Now once again the film will be shown on the big screen of the Bord Gáis, accompanied by Howard Blake’s iconic score as played live by the Irish Philharmonic Orchestra.
Suitable of course for young children, the whole family can enjoy this opportunity to share the magic of Christmas. The Classic song Walking in the Air will be followed by a
Shay Byrne of RTÉ Radio 1’s Risin’ Time will narrate the story of James and the flying snowman as the film plays out on the big screen, as the Irish Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Ronan O’Reilly, provides a live score. Several stage schools will be in attendance to sing seasonal favourites, adding to the Christmas cheer. And according to the Bord Gáis, Santa Claus himself will be in attendance that weekend as their esteemed guest.
This event is suitable for all ages. Infants under the age of 2 & babies in arms are allowed and do not require a ticket for entry.
