Rising Irish talents will be coming together in Galway this weekend, as production begins on a new short directed by Tristan Heanue, winner of Best First Short Drama at last year’s Galway Film Fleadh.
Principal photography is set to begin on a short film titled A Break in the Clouds; a contemporary drama about a young couple struggling to adjust to life following the birth of their first child.
Written, directed and produced by Tristan Heanue (In This Place), this film will mark the follow up to his directorial debut Today, which went on to win at the 27th Galway Film Fleadh. A two day shoot will commence on 6th May in Renvyle in Co. Galway.
Tristan will also star alongside some of Ireland’s brightest actors, including Gemma-Leah Devereux (Get Up & Go, Stitches) Marie Ruane (Foxes, Striking Out) and Linda Bhreathnach (Adulting, Ros na Rún).
A Break in the Clouds will be produced by Paddy Slattery, a long term collaborator of Tristan’s, with Narayan Van Maele (Gridlock, Gutland) helming cinematography. The film will be shot on the Arri Alexa Mini, while editing and sound design duties will be undertaken by John Desay (Ladies of Science) and Nikki Moss (Patrick’s Day) respectively.
Once complete, A Break in the Clouds will hit the film festival circuit, targeting some of the major film festivals at home and abroad.
