The Fellowship journeys to Smithfield for an Extended Lord of the Rings Marathon

One of the most popular events every year at the Light House Cinema returns this June. If you’re a Lord of the Rings fan it’s time to gather up your fellowship and begin your journey to Smithfield, as the cinema will be hosting their annual celebratory marathon of the Lord of the Rings trilogy on Saturday 17th June.

You might want to pack some lembas bread for the occasion, as they’ll not only be showing The Fellowship of the RingThe Two Towers and The Return of the King back to back, but it will be the extended edition of each film as well. All in all it adds up to a whooping 13 hours of rings, swords, bows, axes and potatoes, making this the ultimate challenge for any Lord of the Rings lovers out there. Proceedings kick off at 12 noon with The Fellowship of the Ring, followed by The Two Towers at 4:15pm, and then completing the trilogy with The Return of the King at 8:45pm – finishing at 00.55. They’ll be plenty of breaks in between to head to the bathroom and get some snacks, but those going for all three films will probably want to have had a good breakfast, second breakfast and elevenses before the films get under way.

Individual tickets are available for each film for €10 and there’s also a 3 film bundle ticket to the full Lord of the Rings Marathon for only €27,  available by purchasing through the Light House Box Office or by phoning 01 872 8006.
