Edgar Wright, director of such delights as Shaun of the Dead and Scott Pilgrim Vs the World, released the trailer and poster for his new movie Baby Driver (coming this summer).
In a word, this film looks slick! Baby Driver follows Baby, a getaway driver who finds love and wants a way out of his life of crime with his new girlfriend Deborah (played by Lily James).
Full of colour, quips and gags and high-speed driving, if the trailer is anything to go by this film looks like it could really be something special. The only reservation may be that having Ansel Engelhort Ryan Goslinging might come off a bit bland, and in the trailer at least, he seems to lack chemistry. But with Kevin Spacey, Jon Hamm and Jamie Foxx to bounce off, maybe this will even out.
The past few Wright films have failed to land for me, but this looks set to break that streak. Could Baby Driver be the Summer Blockbuster we’ve been waiting for? If nothing else, it will be interesting to see how Wright handles directing such an action-packed film. So far, all of Edgar Wright’s direction has been acting-led. This could be a real challenge, but from what we’ve seen so far it could be his career best.
