Dublin Becomes A City of Stars with the La La Land Live Orchestra

A live-to-film celebration tour of La La Land has been announced, with the not-quite-Best Picture touring at concert halls in the United States, Mexico and Europe. The film will be coming to the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre with live musical accompaniment later this year.

The winner of six Oscars including Best Original Score, Best Original Song and Best Director, La La Land will be brought to audiences like never before via a huge screen accompanied by a 60-piece orchestra.

Described as ‘the ultimate immersive experience’, the La La Land Live Tour will include a date at Bord Gais Energy Theatre, Dublin on 28th September 2017.

The score for La La Land was composed by Justin Hurwitz, a long-time collaborator with Damien Chazelle who also scored the director’s previous feature films Guy and Madeleine on a Park Bench, and Whiplash. Hurwitz, who will be conducting the orchestra himself at the tour’s shows at the Hollywood Bowl in the US, has received critical acclaim for the film’s score, particularly for the film’s show-stopping songs ‘City of Stars’ and ‘Audition (The Fools Who Dream)’, each nominated for Best Original Song at the recent Oscars, with ‘City of Stars’ taking home the prize. Now you can see the acclaimed film on a massivw screen with the music being played live. The Bord Gáis Energu Theatre has hosted live orchestrals alogside films before, such as Alien last year, and this is much the same, except the only thing bursting out of Ryan Gosling’s chest is his unbridled love of classic jazz.

Tickets for this event at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre go on sale Friday 10th March at 10am with ticket prices ranging from €65-76.
