Christmas feels so long ago it may as well have never happened. Our New Year’s Resolutions are in tatters already and it’s only the 10th. Forget April, everybody knows that January is the cruellest month, but luckily the Sugar Club have a beacon of light to offer in these dark times. Popcorn have been screening classic films for fans to enjoy with a slice of pizza and perhaps a tall glass of water or two for a while now, and their streak is continuing in January with three films that may help chase your January Blues away.
The screenings start this Friday with a double bill of Beatles. The Fab Four films A Hard Day’s Night and 8 Days A Week are on at the Sugar Club on January 13 at 8pm.
Moving on to Saturday and into next week are showings of Trainspotting. With this year bringing a long-waiting sequel to the 90’s cultural touchstone, a refresher is in order. Demand is so high that the showing Trainspotting on January 14 is alreay sold out, but you catch it in the middle of next week on January 18 and 19, both at 8pm.
Finally, what better choice to watch on a Saturday night than Saturday Night Fever? Perhaps a bleaker, more serious film than remembered by pop culture, Saturday Night Fever is nevertheless a very interesting slice of the 70s and yes, you will ser some pretty sharp dancing from John Travolta. Saturday Night Fever will be screened at the Sugar Club on January 21 at 8pm.
Popcorn are sure to be offering more fun films all through the year, but anyone interested in attending their nights this month can pick up tickets now from the Sugar Club. So if you’ve had a hard day’s night, you have lust for life or if you need to stay alive this January, you know where to go.
