Hollywood Babylon is at it again; this time bringing eighties classics Pretty in Pink and Valley Girl back to the big screen at the Lighthouse cinema. The event is being held on September 17th in celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the release of Pretty in Pink. As an added bonus, the Lighthouse bar will be hosting a mini-prom before the screenings.
The Pre-Party will kick off at 9pm with punch, a photo booth and a crowning ceremony for the best dressed Prom King and Queen. If your debs wasn’t all it was hyped up to be, here’s your chance to make new memories.
Then at 10pm Valley Girl will begin. The Lighthouse really appreciates Nic Cage and audiences can expect to see him here at his silliest as a young teen with red and black hair that would make Rufio proud. It’s a typical wrong-side-of-the-tracks story, best described by the film’s tagline – She’s cool, he’s hot. She’s from the Valley, he’s not.
And at midnight, the main event will start. Pretty in Pink stars Molly Ringwald as Andie, an unpopular girl who spends her time either with her boss or best friend Duckie (who holds a torch for her). Andie suddenly gets noticed by one of the cool kids, rich and popular Blane. She soon discovers that dating Mr. Popularity may not be all it’s cracked up to be.
