The Audi Dublin International Film Festival may have been and gone earlier this year, but the festival organisers are devoted to keeping its spirit going throughout the year. With that in mind, ADIFF has arranged for the stars and director of upcoming film Anthropoid to attend the film’s Irish premiere on Wednesday 31 August.
Irish actors Cillian Murphy and Jamie Dornan as well as BAFTA-nominated director Sean Ellis will be in Dublin next Wednesday to present ADIFF’s screening of Anthropoid in Cineworld. The film is based on the true story of Operaton Anthropoid, the mission to assassinate SS General Reinhard Heydrich, the “Butcher of Prague”.
Murphy and Dornan play Czech soldiers Josef Gabík and Jan Kubiš respectively, men parachuted into their occupied homeland in December 1941. With limited resources and information, they’re tasked with assassinating Heydrich, the man behind only Hitler and Himmler in the Reich hierarchy.
It’s a measure of how fervent Dublin film fans are that tickets for the premiere are sold out, but stay tuned, as ADIFF have more events planned for the rapidly approaching autumn.
Anthropoid will be released in cinemas nationwide on Friday 9th September.
