Congratulations are in order as it was announced last week that Hasbro, Inc has acquired Boulder Media, a multi-award winning Irish animation company based in Dublin.
Based on Hawkins Street in Dublin City, Boulder Media was established by Robert Cullen in 2000 and is best known for a long-standing relationship with Cartoon Network and has also worked on projects for Nickelodeon, Disney and BBC.
Over the years Boulder Media has produced episodes of Cartoon Network series Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends and The Amazing World of Gumball, as well as providing the animation for the second series of acclaimed series Wander Over Yonder. In 2015, they animated the reboot of cult British cartoon Danger Mouse for BBC. Now, as a wholly-owned subsidiary, Boulder will continue to produce animated series on behalf of third-party clients, in addition to producing animation projects for Hasbro’s best-known brands, including Transformers and My Little Pony. With Cartoon Saloon continuing to create Oscar-nominated works and Brown Bag Studios continuing to expand, it’s a good time for animation in Ireland.
