An American psychic is troubled by spirits of the dead that make relationships with living people difficult. A French journalist has a near-death experience after being caught in a tsunami, and a London boy is tormented by the loss of his identical twin brother. Tuesday

Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde (RTÉ2, 9.00 pm):  The blonde heroine with a can-do attitude graduates as a qualified lawyer and heads straight for Washington, DC, determined to persuade Congress to put a stop to the testing of cosmetics on animals, quickly proving her mettle in fighting adversity as well as red tape. Director: Charles Herman-Wurmfeld Starring Reese Witherspoon, Sally Field Running Time: 95 minutes

Wednesday

The Impossible (RTÉ1, 9.35 pm):  A British family spends Christmas on holiday in Thailand, only to get caught up in the 2004 tsunami. With his mother injured in hospital, the eldest son goes out into the ensuing chaos looking for his father and younger brothers, whom he was separated from during the crisis. Director: Juan Antonio Bayona Starring: Naomi Watts, Ewan McGregor, Tom Holland Running Time: 113 minutes

Thursday

Columbo: The Bye-Bye Sky High IQ Murder Case (UTV, 11.40 pm): This entertainingly titled installment of the long-running detective series sees wily old Columbo pitted against an accountant with a reputation as being one of the brightest men in the world, smart enough to cover up every possible clue. Director: Sam Wanamaker Starring: Peter Falk, Theodore Bikel Running Time: 70 minutes

Friday

Red (RTÉ2, 9 pm) A comic-book adaptation about a team of retired CIA agents who realise that someone is trying to assasinate them. In the process, the old-timers discover some dangerous secrets.  Director: Robert Schwenke Starring: Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich Running Time: 111 minutes

Saturday

Something’s Gotta Give (TG4, 22.45) An ageing, lecherous music executive finds himself falling for his much younger girlfriend’s mother when she nurses him back to health after a heart attack. However, a surprising rival emerges in the form of a handsome young doctor. Director: Nancy Meyers Starring: Jack Nicholson, Diane Keaton Running Time: 128 minutes
