Terror at Teeling: The Exorcist comes to the Dublin Distillery

October is fast approaching and you know what that means…okay yes, pumpkin spice lattes are back and that’s all very well and good. But more importantly, Halloween season is with us again and fans of all things spooky and/or scary should be sure to keep logging in to read about the many Halloweeny screenings taking place throughout Dublin in the run up to October 31st. We’ve already talked about some of the Stephen King horror films that will be shown at the Light House Cinema for their Dear Constant Reader season starting soon, but a less expected venue will be hosting a horror movie showing very soon, and it’s one of the big ones.

It’ll be an excellent day for an exorcism on Thursday, October 26th as the Teeling Whiskey Distillery show William Friedkin’s classic horror The Exorcist. The spirits will be out in force at the Distillery that evening, as Teeling will be serving up some spooktacular cocktails as well as classic movie snacks to be enjoyed alongside their screening of the film. The exhibition space at the Merchant’s Quay distillery will be transformed into a Halloween cinema for one night only, with drinks specials on offer all cinema night long and some top local food producers on hand providing a selection of cinema treats to attendees, available to purchase on the night. Tickets for the event are priced at  €15 each and are available from Teeling now, but they are limited for this one-night only event, so anyone looking to attend should move faster than little Regan’s spinning head.

William Friedkin believed for years that his film had been banned in Ireland when it first came out in 1974, but in fact an edited version was released instead, much to his chagrin. It wasn’t until October 1998 that the film was shown uncut in Ireland for the first time, but now Dublin film fans will get to see one of the all-time great horrors in a unique setting and enjoy a few cocktails too, and provided they don’t have a few too many and end up with their head spinning and vomit flying everywhere, a good night should be had by all.
