An Incredible selection for Brad Bird Weekend at the Light House

With the release of Pixar’s eagerly anticipated Incredibles 2 arriving swiftly on the horizon, the Light House Cinema are devoting a weekend to the animated works of the series’ director, Brad Bird.

From his early days as an animator on 80s Disney films like The Fox and the Hound and The Black Cauldron, American animator Brad Bird built up a strong reputation as one of the best in the industry. Bird spent eight seasons as a creative consultant on The Simpsons during its prime years, before setting out on his own to direct The Iron Giant, a cult classic that has grown in stature to be regarded as one of an animated classic. Bird then became one of the most trusted hands at Pixar, first directing The Incredibles in 2004, as well as taking over the direction of Ratatouille in 2007, winning Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature for both films. Bird moved into live-action with Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, and his animation skills translated perfectly to the series’ action set-pieces, resulting in one of the more acclaimed entries to the series. Incredibles 2 marks a return to animation for Bird, and the Light House are marking the occasion by screening his animated films on this coming weekend.
